first_imgA staggering €17,500 has been raised by over ONE HUNDRED athletes who took part in the Belfast Marathon to raise funds for the Mammy, I Want to Walk fund.We think this is one of the pictures which best sums up little battler Paul Doherty!A massive fundraising campaign to help Paul Doherty 6, to walk again was launched by his devoted mother Ann-Marie last year.Paul, from Killygordon, was born with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy which left him in a wheelchair. However, his mum never gave up the hope of him walking one day and launched a fundraising campaign to enable him to get ground-breaking surgery in the USA.Brave little Paul Doherty 6, underwent some major operations in the USA in March this year and doctors deemed the surgery a huge success.Paul’s arms and legs had strengthened significantly and the surgery has given him real hope that he could walk one day.The on-going campaign to raise money continues and after SIX months of planning over ONE HUNDRED athletes took part in the Belfast Marathon last month and raised €17,500.
