first_imgKINGSTON: T The 44th staging of the annual Police National Athletics Championship powered by Mayberry Investments and the Police Co-op Credit Union is scheduled for June 2 and 3. This year, the event will be held at the Nation al Stadium East Field. Speaking at the media launch on Tuesday, Area 8 representative Superintendent Terrence Sanko, was confident they would again top the meet. “We have been dominating the championships for the past seven years and we have every intention of keeping the Mayberry Investment/ Jamaica Police Co-Op trophy in our division so you can hand it to me now, victory is already ours,” Sanko said. Mayberry Investments’ Anika Jengelley said her company was delighted to be associated with the championships once again. “We are pleased to be involved again this year. This partnership with the Police Sports Council and the Police Co-operative Credit Union is one that we value greatly, and always intended to be long-term. We are currently in the middle of a multi-year contract, which will see us continuing to support this initiative for at least another year,” Jengelley, Mayberry’s assistant vice-president for marketing, said. “Our social development efforts are deeply rooted in building strong communities, and we see this event as one that contributes to that. We envision a fun-filled family day for the members of the police force, their families, the members of the community. It’s an opportunity for these groups to connect in a positive fashion.” she added. Each of the eight police divisions will be hosting sports days to select the team that will be representing the division at the National Championships. The first area elimination is Area 7 which is scheduled for today at the Kingston Technical High School field. Other area eliminations are as follows: – Wednesday, April 26, Area 2 – Kaiser Bauxite, Discovery Bay, St Ann – Thursday, April 27, Area 1 – Catherine Hall, Montego Bay, St James – Friday, April 28, Area 8 – No 8 Field, Up Park Camp Mobile Reserve – Saturday, April 29, Area 4 – National Stadium East Field – Thursday, May 4, Areas 3 – Kirkvine Williamsfield, Manchester – Friday, May 5, Area 6 – NPCJ, Twickenham Park, St Catherine – Saturday, May 6, Area 5 – Paul Bogle High School, Morant Baylast_img
